Gary Henson's debut album, The Coast Is Clear, was released in mid-December 2005 and is now shipping through CD Baby. The Album contains 13 original songs, including (When You Turn Back The Time) The Sun Always Shines, second-place winner in the 2004 International Songwriting Competition.
Recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California, the project was produced and engineered by Grammy Award Winner Steve Pouliot and Lonnie Pedersen.
Session artists on the album include Taras Prodaniuk (Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello), David Ravin (Jewel, Amy Grant), Zeke Zirngeibel (Warren Zevon, Doobie Brothers), Billy Watts (Jennifer Warnes, Jackson Browne) and Glenn Sherba (Badfinger, Commander Cody). The CD was mixed at Capitol Records Studios and Mastered by Keith Blake at Pacific Mastering.

Gary Henson placed second in the 2004 International Songwriting Competition for his musical composition, (When You Turn Back The Time) The Sun Always Shines.
"It's exhilarating!," says the Northern California songwriter, "to create something and have it stand out in the minds of so many talented musicians and music industry executives." Henson's song - about looking back on life and remembering the good times - was selected from over 11,000 entries.
The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is "THE songwriting competition to take note of," says the New York Times. It is one of the largest and most prestigious songwriting competitions in the world, judged by some of the most influential members of the music industry.

Gary Henson appeared in the 26th Anniversary Special Edition of Music Connection Magazine (issue #25, December 8, 2003) in anticipation of his new album.
This photo shows Gary working at Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood, California, with Grammy Award winning producer, Steve Pouliot and several session artists who contributed to the album. They were laying down rhythm tracks for Henson's The Coast Is Clear.
